CELL GROUPS

Plans are in hand to begin Cell Groups this Autumn. These are informal groups held in people's homes.  They are not 'Coffee mornings' or 'Prayer Groups' or 'Bible Study Groups' although they will include elements of each of these. They will provide an opportunity for people to meet with others who are looking for a safe place to explore and enjoy the Christian faith.  They are not designed just for mature Christians but for people who want to learn with others.  In the same way that the cells of the human body grow through its own inner resources, so a Christian Cell Group  grows through its members learning from one another and together seeking to learn from God and His Word.  If you would like to know more talk to a member of the PCC or Brian Leathers (702469) or Ann Jefferyes (702150).

Noah's Ark Holiday Club July 2008

JJ's - The JJ Youth Club
Run Linda Goodwin (01538 703104)

This Club arose out of the success of the Holiday Club which was originally started at St Peter’s in 1998. The Youth Club commenced September 2003 at the request of some of the parents and is now in its 4th year. The Club is run with the help of Christians that have been cleared through the Lichfield Diocese Criminal Record check. We currently have 31 members.

Who for?
Children aged 7-13 years old. Numbers will be limited and preference will be given to youngsters who live in Alton or who are/or have attended school in Alton or currently attend a church there. Children are eligible to commence the Club at the beginning of the term following their 7th birthday, if spaces are available. Please contact Mrs Sheila Aston (01538 702367) in advance if you wish your child to join.

When?
Every other Friday during school term. From 6.00 pm until 7.30 pm. This sometimes varies if we are doing activities off site.

Where?
The sessions will normally be at St Peter’s church, Alton. If we are meeting off site we will give advance notice.

What cost?
We normally charge £20 per year to cover the cost of all the activity material used, plus refreshments provided. Occasionally we might ask for one off payments for special events e.g. bowling. Cheques payable to ‘Alton PCC’.

What do we do?
We are Christian based and commence and end our sessions with prayer. We also prepare two or three services a year with the expectation that youngsters will get involved. The type of activities we cover are: a visit to Radio Stoke, swimming, bowling and walking, treasure hunts, scrapheap challenge, brass rubbing, handbell ringing, making and selling our own Christmas cards, events to raise money for Pudsey Bear, and orphans in India, involved in various games and craft activities. Oh yes, and a biannual weekend visit to Dovedale house at Ilam.

Anyone interested in joining please feel free to contact.
